Dr. Margaret Mann and Dr. Michael Kovacs Fund

Albert Einstein once remarked, “That only a life that is lived for others is a life worthwhile.”  On the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary, Dr. Michael Kovacs and Dr. Margaret Mann were celebrated by their six children, not only as Husband and Wife, but as incredibly giving individuals.

The inspiration of the unique anniversary gift presented by their family was their untiring service to others. As daughter Colleen put it, “In today’s busy world, there is a lot of road crossing to do. People become neighbors when they are willing to cross the road for one another. Life can be frantic, and so often our own lives are what seem most important. But our Mom and Dad both cross the road and pay due heed and attention to what is happening on the other side.”

The Dr. Margaret Mann and Dr. Michael Kovacs Fund was established at the Victoria Foundation in 2005. It is a fund in perpetuity and was created by way of a family legacy. Grandson Jeffrey marks special occasions for his grandparents with a donation to the Fund. The organization that benefits from the distributions of the fund is PEERS – Prostitutes Empowerment Education and Research Society. This Victoria organization provides support, resources and programs for past and current sex workers—male or female. PEERS also helps with housing, training and volunteering opportunities, advocacy and public education around sexual exploitation and the issues of adult sex work.
