75 Years of Our Building Community
Since 1936 the generosity and commitment of our donors has enabled the Victoria Foundation to fulfill its vision of connecting people who care with causes that matter®. We are fortunate to be associated with so many people who care about the ongoing betterment of our community.
We recognize that investing strategically to meet our community’s needs through leadership and partnership has a lasting impact and that partnering with our community helps to create legacies that will long outlive each of us. The connections that the Foundation has with the charitable sector make us the go to resource centre for community philanthropy; they allow us to respond to the needs in our community through leadership, stewardship and granting.
To assist donors to meet their charitable goals, the Foundation helps them to create permanent endowments that will support the causes most important to them, for the long-term. The reach of the Foundation is broad in scope as it takes the widest possible view of challenges and opportunities in the region and makes grants to support the organizations committed to addressing them.
The Foundation’s signature programs like Victoria’s Vital Signs® and Youth in Philanthropy continue to provide ongoing citizen engagement and learning. The positive and innovative Every Step Counts running program continues to make a difference in the lives of those who are experiencing barriers and challenges with housing, mental health, addiction and other related issues. Many of the runners are realizing the positive change they seek through their participation.
This year, we are excited about our historic 75th Anniversary celebration. It seems only a short time ago that we welcomed Justin Trudeau to our city to commemorate the Victoria Foundation’s 70th Anniversary Gala. Five years have passed since that memorable time in our history, and although there have been some challenges along the way, we have much to be thankful for and many achievements worth noting.
